Rising Storm

"The new alpha will be Storm!" the elders announced. I ghasped and thought to myself, "But Storm is bloodthirsty and will become a burden on us all!" Moon, the Alpha female will be removed from her post as Alpha Female, due to the passing of Starr. Storm will now choose the new Alpha Female. Storm surveyed the crowd with his frightening orange eyes, now slits of flame amongst his blackish-grey fur. He was no doubt searching for the most talented, beautiful wolf in the crowd. He raised his muzzle.
"Whisper will be the new Alpha Female" he proclamed. I ghasped and eyes wide with shock I padded up to Storm.
"Whisper," he said. "Do you wish to be Alpha Female? and with a muttered snarl the audience couldn't hear he added "If you don't, I can just tear you apart. And with Storm, that threat was real. I raised my muzzle to the air
" Yes, I will be Alpha Female of Windpack."
"then so be it" Said an elder wolf  " Welcome Storm and Whisper." "Welcome new alphas, may the stars guide your path"

The Passing of Starr

I dash into the clearing. There lay Starr, the strong and noble Alpha, now just a heap on the ground, foaming at the mouth. Next to him lay a rabbit, it's mouth foaming and it's throat yanked out. Probably eaten by Starr. His eyes are glazed over with a depth of eerie starlight in the centers. I let out a long howl, crawling through my fur, as the others join in. Starr has been taken to live among the stars. I close my eyes, the pain is too much to bear. I loved Starr, I am realizing this now. I press my nose gently into his fur, against his cold flank and whisper: "I love you Starr, Goodbye"

The rest of the pack press in their noses as the stars glitter above. I look up at the clearing sky and see an extra star in the sky and I know in my heart that it is Starr watching over us from the sky...

ClawDreams

You know how you have nightmare or dreams of scary things? well us wolves have clawdreams.

Fire burns all around. It stings my eyes, lines my lungs and blunt my sharp sense of smell. I growl. It starts to rain in a heavy storm, lightning flashes, but the fire is untouched. It rages one, fire and storm, and epic battle for the territory of the forest. claws of an invisible enemy scrape my sides. I yelp as something bites into my flank. It is a scary and feirce battle.

I open my eyes in a flash of light. Lightning streaks through the sky. The stars are angry. The sky is crying. Only one thing could make the stars this sad and angry.

An Alpha has died.

Running

My heart pounds as I soar over the forest floor. My paws hardly touching the ground, my nose leads me to the male deer infront of me. I can almost close my eyes and follow him with my nose, if it weren't for all the trees. I am getting close, I can feel it. His scent is getting stronger now. I leap and land square on it's back. Rearing up on his hind legs, the deer tries to shake me off. I growl and throw it to the ground, beneath my mighty paws. In one quick motion, I snap it's neck between my jaws. It goes limp, it's over for the deer. I thank the forest for this deer's life, for this deer will give my pack life. I know it will live on in the glorious place we all go when the stars take us.
"Whisper! Nice catch!" I turn around. It was Fang! Fang is my best friend here in the pack. We are brother and sister after all, we have always been great friends! Ever scince the stars gave us to our mother! or at least thats what she tells us...
Fang and I walk back to the pack settlement with the deer on our backs. We holler a greeting and walk in. The wolves crowd around as we drop the deer on the ground with a thump. Due to custom, our alpha Starr takes the first bite. Then us, because we caught the deer and have rights to eat before others. Then the upper wolves, the middle wolves and finally, the omegas.
After eating our fill, we walk into our little dens, covered in soft moss. I close my eyes and rest my head on the floor of the den and fall asleep. But before I drift off, I think about what a great leader Starr is. Starr is wise and is like a father to us all. What would the packs be without him. I batt myself on the nose. He already has an Alpha Female! and with that I drift into dreams

Introduction

Through the Eye of the Wolf is a blog about a wolf's struggle with her pack. this will be told through the eyes of Whisper, a she wolf from wind-pack. Whisper is an albino (no pigments in her body) so she is white, but curiously she has blue eyes. Whisper is a normal wolf, and the fastest hunter in the pack, she runs like the wind and slides through the trees as silently as the whisper she was named for. she is shy, but spirited and brave, but very mysteryous. And whisper is sharing her story with you.

And So It Begins....
